I came across this phrase on a Christian platform, and I thought it was fantastic; it said obedience to YAH is the key to success. What is obedience? Obedience is compliance with an order, request, law, or submission to another’s authority
Obedience may not be popular amongst your siblings, colleagues, or friends because living outside of obedience is practically a sin. Sin feels so good because it pleases the flesh. The flesh also doesn’t care because when you die, it is not going anywhere with you.
In biblical terms, your motivation for obedience is love. John 14:15 says, if you love me, you will keep my commandments. Obedience is God’s love language. Obedience is an act of worship. Obedience flows from a heart of gratitude for the grace we have received from the Lord. Obedience is a way of saying, Lord, thank you for what you did and continue to do for us.
Although, as believers, we are not made righteous by our obedience, you can’t buy righteousness with your obedience. Salvation is a gift, and we can do nothing to merit it. God, however, rewards obedience. Obedience is a way to worship God.
In this particular season of my life, I have stepped on some toes because I chose to hear God for myself and submit to him and the words he has spoken over my life. I refused to shrink to the precept of society and do what everybody else does. I have refused to conform to the societal norm.
Obedience to me is better than sacrifice.
But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you asking." (1 Samuel 15:22–23, NLT)
I know if I don’t reap the benefit of my obedience today, my children and generations unborn will reap from this reward because of one act of obedience. In studying today's blog, I discovered that obedience is better than sacrifice is biblical. Wow, rebellion is also as sinful as witchcraft and stubbornness as bad as worshipping idols.
What I can glean from my blog today is that obedience should be at the forefront of our mantra in life.
