I am still on the matter of love. Today is Valentine’s Day, and I believe it’s an expression of love to one another. I don’t know the whole story behind Valentine. A friend said to me yesterday that he wonders how my Valentine will be today. I told the person, I don’t honestly remember the last time I celebrated Valentine if it's a special day to give and receive love. If valentine is the expression of love, then it has to be celebrated every day.
To boast means to brag or point to oneself. Boasting is not a mark of love. Pride, on the other hand, according to the Oxford dictionary, is a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
I was in a particular situation where all I heard constantly was myself. “I am this, “ I am a different kind of man” I was told none of the male friends I have can match up to who this person is. With the knowledge I have about love now, I realize that was not a mark of love. it was a braggadocio talk
Love does not boast, and it is not prideful. This person was bent on proving a point and proving that he is indeed a different kind of man. When you don’t know better, you succumb to all sorts, but when God graces you to know who’s you are, you remember who’s you are, and you shake your crown.
Love does not boast, and it should not boast because it is focused on the loved one and not on oneself. A braggart is full of himself, magnifying his accomplishments and too occupied with self-aggrandizement. True love, God’s kind of love, turns the perspective outward. The focus of true love is on the needs of others, offering help with no thought of repayment or recognition.
Shalom
Imani.
Love indeed doesn’t boast! happy love day to you Dubea
