Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:28
Humility, what is it? According to the Oxford dictionary, humility is a modest or low view of one's importance; humbleness.
My mother died in 2005 in a terrible car accident; my mom's passing shattered our world; she was everything to us. She went above and beyond for the well-being of all her children. See, I was young, and although it impacted me, some recent happenings have given me another perspective into this life. It has become imperative that I blog on this topic, humility.
I urge all of us that if we don’t pursue anything at all, we should pursue humility. We need it more than ever in this dispensation we find ourselves in; the times are scary. I have always known that God hates pride, and It is something I try to be aware and conscious of, but I know I need humility now more than ever. There is one prayer I used to pray in a particular season of my life when I became frustrated with my circumstance, and I got to the point where all the keys I had were not working for that situation.
In my frustration and quest, and at times when the craziness in me rose, I would always tell the Lord, Lord, whatever I do, please do not let pride set in and overtake me. I believe I told a couple of my close friends this very thing. At times I could tell that pride was setting in; I knew the person I have become was nothing I did with my strength to merit that. It had all been by the grace of God; I also knew where the lord took me from and for me to allow pride to meander its way into my life was something I had to be aware of.
I came across Apostle Joshua Selman’s sermon on the lifting power of humility, and it has blessed me tremendously. God promises us riches, honor, and life when we are humble. Proverbs 22:4
I urge my readers that if you know God shabbily, please know him well. We need him more than ever, walk in your God-giving calling with everything you have in you, pursue after destiny and purpose because when it all set and done? You will be assured of one thing. One of the essential keys to humility is in Deuteronomy 8:18, remember where God took you from.
Shalom
Imani
