DO WE REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT LOVE IS?

I have been compelled to embark on the journey of finding the true meaning of love. The word love is mainly misused. We Say we love, but honestly, we don’t. We lack the proper understanding of love.

Love is the greatest of all the commandments. We are to love God and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The best way to love is to love God’s way. Any other way is not sustaining. Love is not based on feelings. So many of us love based on our emotions, hence the trouble we find ourselves in. Establishing love alone on emotions can be detrimental because feelings will change. Your feelings can fail you.

This is what love is all about. Love is patient; love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast; it is not proud. It does not dishonor others; it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres. Ponder on these attributes of love. When you say you love, it should embody the above.

It is my prayer that God graces us with the ability to love his way with no limits, trappings, expectations, demands, restrictions, and conditions.
